A "new" era of politics? In more ways than one.

Pulled this off of Drudge this morning. In 2004, Senator-elect Obama was giving an interview with Randi Rhodes of Air America fame, and in the interview he was complaining about President Bush pushing legislation through Congress without giving ample time for Congress to read the bills.

BARACK OBAMA: ...When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what's in them and nobody has read them.

RANDI RHODES: 14 pounds it was!

BARACK OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate then these kinds of things happen. And I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean you remember that there was no real debate about that. It was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

Just more evidence to support what I’ve known ever since Obama emerged as a national politician…he is a phony. There is no such thing as “change you can believe in” because there is no change. He is just another politician, doing what politicians do.

Post-racial? No way. Whether its injecting race into the campaign with comments like “he doesn’t look like those other presidents” or “did I mention he was black”; or prejudging a highly-respected police officer as behaving “stupidly” and with racial motives, Barack Obama has proven that he is anything but post-racial.

Post-Partisan? Bull. He continues to blame his problems on the prior administration every time there is a camera pointed his way. He blames Republicans for obstructionism despite his party owning a Congressional super majority. He says the GOP has no alternative ideas, which is an interesting accusation considering his unwillingness to listen to any alternative ideas.

Six months into it, and thus far Obama has been a disappointment. He mandated the closure of Gitmo prison without any plan of execution thus far – aside from releasing a few prisoners on a Bahamian island paradise.

He crammed a $780 billion “stimulus” package through Congress without allowing Congress ample time to actually read the bill, and so far no stimulus has occurred. Probably because the money is going to things like turtle crossings and toilet repair.

He crammed cap and trade through the House with the help of Pelosi and political bribery.

And now healthcare. Geez.

And if you’re not yet disgusted by the behavior of our political leaders, here is a link to John Conyers comments about the necessity of reading a bill before voting on it:

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

Despite his sentiments, Conyers still voted in favor of the stimulus package that he didn’t read.

I realize that by posting opinions like this I run the risk of being targeted by the White House and ending up on their "flag" list. So what. Feel free to report me to the brown shirts.

Threats are more common when they're running scared. There'll be no two terms for Acorn's "hood-organizer", passing unread bills, and that election cycle is only 15 months off. Heads will fall in the State Capitals, and the Congress will see Changes that we can believe in, soon!

We the People are getting nervous about their own healthcare now.

Apparently, Obama's Senior Advisor on Health, Ezekial Emanuel, has given us his views on "the values of life", with the highest priorities assigned to those between 14 to 40; the very young and those over 50 can Go Fish!

ObamaHealthCare will "minimize" the elderly voter (at best)....
Sorry Grandma!

The gray-haired voter should be on the alert; Medicare is about to see
some real neo/radical "CHANGE!"

Today On Tv, Barry Obama in shirt-sleeves, and that infectious grin, suggested that a certain News Channel (ahem) has accused his administration of wanting to unplug
yo' Grandma! His adoring fans grin,
licking it up - Slurp! Slurp!

Glen Beck showed that bold tape, a crude distortion of what the people at Fox have actually said to alert our seniors.

reb,

I can only counsel you to try and analyze the political situation realistically as opposed to stumping from a soap box of wishful thinking. It is also a grave mistake, particularly in your case, to believe that a significant portion of the population, much less a majority, share your views on anything.

As w/ most mid term elections, the Democrats, as the party in the majority, can expect go lose seats.

Whether the GOP can mount a campaign that will be successful in retaking the White House in 2012 remains to be seen. If I were a betting man, I would not bet the farm. I would not bet the south forty. The only property I might bet would a parcel situate next to a super fund site.

Whereas anything can happen--look at how the President emerged from obscurity to win the election--the GOP, regrettably from my perspective, has some challenges which it probably will not be able to overcome unless the country's economy worsens, a prospect I think is unlikely.

I will offer only a few reasons.

1. The Republican party continues to devolve into a regional party w/ strongholds in traditional red states. It has yet to mount any broad based national appeal.

2. Demographically, the GOP appears to be the party of white people. It has failed attract minorities in any great numbers. The Sotomayor confirmation vote epitomizes this perception. Hispanics represent the fastest growing demographic in our nation. 31 Republican senators voted against her pandering to the gun lobby and their conservative bases. I think that most Hispanics will not perceive this as a vote of conscience. Most perceive this as "they don't want us under their tent."

3. Conservatism, probably wrongly, is now closely identified w/ George W. Bush. Everybody who is not drinking their own bath water as you are wont to do, understands that Mr. Bush left the WH having engaged the country in an expensive and unjustified war and having left the economy in shambles. Under the Bush administration, "Conservatism" reached its high water, or low water, mark for a generation

4. Mr. Obama offered Americans hope. Time will tell whether that hope or our hopes are realized. As the minority party, the GOP is the party of opposition. Everyone understands that we as a nation have challenges and problems. What solutions have the GOP proffered? Well there are the usual suspects--smaller government and tax cuts, particularly for the rich. But for most Americans, if asked, were you better off after 8 years of Clinton than after 8 years of Bush, the answer does not favor the GOP.

So pass along all the whacko reports about Obama's Kenyan birth and his proposed death panels. Such tactics do not result in making converts. All you are doing is preaching to the choir, a choir that does not seem to be growing or becoming any more diverse.

Regards.

Hi Loop Garoo!

I see you are still reading the Huffington Post and The New York Times. How dreary.

Still bum-rapping Bush-Cheney-Halliburton over Iraq? Shame on you.

That old dog just can't run that track anymore, so you and the mutt should get off of that partisan band-wagon before the wheels come off! Read the Gallup & Rasmussen Polls. Obama's second term is pure fantasy; too many serious mistakes in the first six months. Your homespun analysis is dead wrong.
Pelosi/Reid will be history in November, 2008.
>
Try discussing Obama's Pakistan War, or Hamas/Fatah fratricide in Palestine. You're better equipped to handle that hot-potato.
>
Your crushing "boycott" is just too
sad; I am over-whelmed with guilt.
I so miss your vain wit, and boyish charm.

My best to you, Tony.

A final appeal to logic:

What we see is NOT entirely a G.O.P. Resurgance; it's a broad-based meltdown of the Democratic/Progressivism pushing an ObamaHealthCare Scam down the
throats of grassroots citizens! reb

Novmber, 2010, 15 months coming up fast. Loop Garoo's fantasy of two terms for that Chicago Slicker is experiencing a meltdown already.

Check Gallup & Rasmussen.

Six months of robust moves toward
Socialism vs Free Enterprise has reached the "grassroots unaware" & Concerned Women Voters hopping angry with Obama's Nationalized HealthCare Scam!

WE the People, are spitting fire; the Independent & Gray-haired, Plus Bluedog Democrats are on the move, and are speaking up at the town-halls. Scepticism multiplies.

Pelosi, Reid, & Henry Waxman's upturned nostrils are suckin' wind;
just look at those clowns!

Bravo & Hot-Doggies!
